Welcome at Wanyika Basenjis

Wanyika Isis

Wanyika, is a word from the Swahili language, and it means literally:" Of the bush". And since the dogs came from the bush, I find that "Wanyika", would fit with our kennel.

Wanyika Basenjis, is founded in 2005 by Erik Renders and Guido Peters. And it is situated at Paal (Limburg) Belgium.

Wanyika Basenjis, is a little kennel, and we want to keep it like that, so that every dog is getting enough attention, that it derserve. Sporadic we will have a litter, and the interest of the puppies, come at the first place.

Averything started at 1999, when we where looking for a dog, who was compact and did not bark to much, and especially loses so good as no hair. After busy reading books and selecting breeds, we came at the page of the Basenji. A little compact dog, that is barkless, and especially loses so good as no hair. The right dog for us.

Now it was looking for a breeder, and ho is having a litter at the moment. Destiny brought us in contact with a breeder in the Netherlands where we finnaly got our first Basenji. It was very interesting to hear, that the father and the mother of our first Basenji, where imports from Australia, ho earn a lot of victories. With our first Basenji, Ch. Abotere's Yardan, we started for the fun to handle the Basenji, and to our surprise, we achieved success with our dog. Meanwhile he is International, Belgian, Dutch, Luxemburgs Champion, and he gaint the title Vice-World Champion in 2002. Finally we have permanent settled in our new house.

We would like to thanks our Basenji friends in the foreign country's for there assistance they gave to Wanyika Basenji kennel, and especially Baagna Basenjis, Zandeena Basenjis, ho gave us a lot of advice.
